Altadena Fire: Aid for Michael, Whitney & Sunny Chan

This week's Eaton Fire in Altadena, CA has caused tremendous loss and heartbreak, including for my dear friends Whitney Chan, Michael Chan, and their daughter Sunny (4).

Miraculously, Whitney and Michael's house is standing as of January 9. While their house was saved, the smoke damage and surrounding toxic chemicals will take months to recover from, as they are the only remaining home on the block. They will be displaced for the foreseeable future. Their entire neighborhood is gone: Sunny's preschool, neighbors' houses, stores, and their favorite restaurants and coffee shop.

How You Can Help

The Chan Family have called Altadena home for several years, and just closed on their beloved house two weeks ago. They gave everything they had to make this purchase, using all of their disposable funds that now cannot be used for this emergency.

Your donation will go toward needs during this time that may not be covered by other disaster resources.

Anything helps, whether it is a donation or sharing their story. Together we can come together and lift up this wonderful family as they navigate the loss and rebuilding of their community.

Whitney and Michael have always poured themselves into their friends and family with their love and kindness. I am hoping we can show up for them during this unimaginable time.

Note: I am Sarah Parra and live in Los Angeles near the Chan Family. They are my best friends and I am Sunny's godmother. I have set up Whitney as the 100% beneficiary so they can immediately use funds. All fundraising goes directly to them; I am only coordinating.
