Al's Journey: From Harassment to Hope

Hello, my name is Al Herre, and I have resided in Portland, Oregon, for the last 21 years in the same apartment. I recently have run into many problems with my landlords or property management groups, which are numerous over the last 20 years. I have had nothing but harassment, and now I'm being forced out. They started allowing fentanyl users into basically a boarding situation with a house kitchen and bathrooms that are now filthy, and a urine smell permeates the whole building. Cockroaches and brown recluse spiders crawl from gaps in the wall. To be 63 and have to use a bathroom on the 3rd floor for the last 3 months is insane! Our house was "replumbed" while I was in it! I have been repeatedly invaded with subpar work and workers in my no-bathroom studio I pay $900 a month for. I was given an eviction notice 4 months ago because my SS came late. After 22 years! All apartments redone except mine, and I'm paying double what new tenants pay! I had a nervous breakdown after the notice; I was so shocked and worried. 6 days in the hospital. I'm not asking for money for that. Just to get me out of here. It's killing me. I need to fix my car and relocate out of Portland to Bellingham, WA, where my mother resides in a home. I was to leave, and the eviction notice stopped me in my tracks, and my apartment is crumbling, and I have no money to leave because I'm paying every cent to live here. Living as a sober old guy is maddening if you live in a 10-bedroom house with fentanyl tenants. It's maddening. I can't just move with no money. I live under constant threat. I'll end it here, but basically, for 20 years, it's been like this. There is so much more. They are preying on me and my SS! I've never asked for help before, and I've always taken care of me. This money will secure me an apartment and vehicle to move. Thank you for your consideration.
