ALS is a horrible deceases! It is also terminal!
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Donna Metz.
I am starting this GoFundMe for my best friend, Sandra Aycock (Sandi). She has been a hard worker all of her life. She has even fostered several kids from birth to adulthood. She was the first one to step up to help anybody and was there for many people. She is loved by many.
Sandra had just reached retirement age. Looking forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren. Even spending time with her sister, that has cancer, that lives in Ga.
It was only weeks after she retired, that she was diagnosed with ALS, known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, or motor neuron disease. As ALS progresses, people living with the disease will find it more difficult to move around and walk, and they will eventually require support to do so. Their symptoms will gradually worsen and take away their ability to move, swallow, speak and eventually breathe. It is a terminal disease.
When she was diagnosed, she was told that she only had 2 to 5 years to live. This is a fast-progressing disease Sandra has no insurance because of her retirement. The medical bills are already starting to build, and this is just the beginning. She will have many trips back and forth to Duke Hospital. Sometime she will have to stay overnight in a motel, as she has appointments the next day.
Please help make this a little easier on her and her family. Can you please make a donation to help offset the financial burden?
As the disease progresses & more support is needed, the average cost of ALS to a family is $150,000-$250,000.
Thank you all, in advance, for your help and support. I know Sandra will great appreciate it too!
