Alpine's Surgery
Hello everyone,
So I am definitely new to this and would not normally send a message like this but just the other day Alpine, our loving husky mix, was taken to the vet. Those who know him, know how amazing he is and typically how excited he is to be around people. He's always up for a run, especially on the beach, and just loves hugs. Over the last week, he's been super lethargic and just not himself. Even just a walk around the block seemed to tire him out. Fast forward to yesterday and being taken to the vet and xrayed, we found out he had a mass in his stomach. He was immediately transported and taken for an ultrasound. The doctor eventually came out and said that he had some internal bleeding and that the mass was a tumor on his spleen. The tumor was supposedly the size of a melon. There is no way I could have him stay in this condition. The good news was that taking the spleen out would not affect him other than making him feel better. The bad news was that the surgery he is going through today, including a 2 day stay, around the clock care and monitoring, and a biopsy of the mass will cost anywhere from $8000 to $9000. Additionally, there is an 80% chance that the tumor will be cancerous and only give him another 3 to 4 months to live. I guess it is hard for us since we recently had to put Ginger down, but Alpine is a part of our family and I couldn't say no. I'm really not sure what to really say, but if you could spare some change to help us through this, we would all greatly appreciate it. Thanks again everyone.
