Alpine Walk 2025 – Finn Fairlie

Hey Everybody,

My name is Finn Fairlie, I’m 16, and I am super excited to share that I am one of the ten young people to have been selected for the 2025 Alpine Walk.

So, what’s the Alpine Walk? It's a really cool event organized by Mittagundi and Wollangarra Outdoor Education Center's. They're places that give young people like me the chance to experience the awesome outdoors. Both centers are dependent on donations, so part of the trip is about raising funds so that other young people have the opportunity to go on programs and have life changing experiences.

The walk itself is an 11 day, 150km bushwalk through some of Victoria’s most rugged and remote wilderness following a section of The Australian Alps Walking Track. The 2025 edition starts at Mittagundi on the 5th of April.

I first went to Mittagundi for a 10-day program during the summer of 2023/24, and it was incredible! I loved it so much that I went back for another course in 2024. Mittagundi is all about giving young people (ages 14 to 17) the chance to explore the beautiful high country of Victoria and make lifelong connections. Participants spend time bushwalking, camping, abseiling, rafting, and helping out on a farm.

It's a huge honor to be picked for the Alpine Walk, and I feel super lucky to be able to do it. I've always loved being in the outdoors, and some of my favorite things are hiking, rock climbing, and surfing.

As part of being selected for the Alpine Walk, I am aiming to fundraise $2,000 for Mittagundi. The money I raise will help other young people have the same amazing experiences that I've had. That’s why I’m asking for your help! My invitation is that for every kilometer I walk, you donate a dollar. So, $15 would cover a whole day of hiking, and $150 would cover the entire Alpine Walk! If you can't donate, that's okay. You can still help by telling your friends and family about the event.
