Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page, and thank you in advance for any help that you can give in our effort to help the United MSD Foundation find a cure for Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency. The foundation is only $500K away from reaching the $3 million dollars that are required to launch the phase I clinical trial that WILL ultimately find a cure for this horrible disease and SAVE CHILDREN'S LIVES. AlphaCare Urgent Care has set a goal of raising 10% of the remaining funds needed, or $50,000. We know that with the generous support of friends like you, we can reach this goal. No contribution is too small to make a difference.
More information about United MSD Foundation: The United MSD Foundation was established by Amber Olsen, a resident of Ocean Springs, MS, and the mother of Willow Olsen. Willow was diagnosed with MSD (Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency) at age 2, after she started showing signs of developmental delay and trouble keeping her balance. Once the diagnosis was made, Amber was told that there is no treatment for Willow's disease, and in almost all cases children with MSD do not live beyond the age of 10. Furthermore, because MSD is so rare, it is not profitable for pharmaceutical companies to fund the research necessary to develop a cure. Amber was basically told that she should go home and enjoy the time she had left with Willow.
Amber refused to accept this, and instead began searching for answers and hope. She traveled around the world and met other families with children with MSD. She also met with the scientist who discovered the disease, as well as others who are performing research in genetic diseases similar to MSD. She found that a cure is very possible, but that funding would be needed for research and clinical trials.
It was from this revelation that the United MSD foundation was born. Its mission is to find a cure for Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency (MSD) and to support research to cure similar diseases. Through the efforts of the United MSD foundation, the possibility of finding a cure is becoming reality.
