Alonte "AJ" Mitchell Chemo Support
Donation protected

On Friday, December 4th, one of my 4 year old students, Alonte "AJ" Mitchell was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic (B-Cell) Leukemia following weeks of unrelenting fatigue, fever, infections, and lack of appetite, which was very unlike Alonte who is a very energetic boy who loves to talk, play and eat with a big appetite...even when it's time to rest. On December 4th, Alonte was checked into the hospital due to his concerning symptoms and when doctor's ran tests, they provided a difficult diagnosis. Alonte's parents, Sabrina and Alonte, Sr. are at a loss of words as they are both loving and working parents who are constantly advocating for their sons' (Alonte and his younger brother, Scott's) needs, health, safety, and joy. This was not news that neither they, his immediate family, nor myself or anyone at our school, needed to hear.
Alonte began chemotherapy just this week and with knowledge of his parents' situation and the longevity of this battle for Alonte's health, they could use financial support to cover excess medical costs (not covered by insurance), transportation costs, and emergency childcare costs.
I know that this time is tough for everyone as COVID has made us stretch and adapt in unimaginable ways but if you could support the Mitchell-Williams family with whatever amount you could, it adds up and will be a big help!
