Along the Border: Migrantes Valientes

To be at this moment writing this gofundme is a surreal time.  The events that happened and what transpired come together to this very moment. A moment of understanding and hope.

Along the Border: Migrantes Valientes is a multi-faceted project with the overall goal to lift up the voices of the Asylum Seekers while creating a comprehensive searchable database for people to provide aid along the southern border.

The primary objective is the work of Through My Eyes  501c3 nonprofit. To put cameras into the hands of the people we help, mentoring them on how to tell their own stories to share with the world. They have complete control of the filming process with the gear we supply them with. This project will encompass the entire US - Mexico border, working at every port of entry. Working with multiple migrants the entire way to empower them and raise awareness.

I will be meeting with the many faces of humanitarian aid for the Migrants along the border. Volunteering with each one for a few days each to see the work they do in action. So long as it aligns with what they say they do, I will then bring out cameras and film their efforts along with interviews.

Following under the same principle of filming the humanitarians, I will be hosting a podcast where I sit down with people along the journey to speak about the issues and efforts present. Our audience will be given the chance to ask questions via a discord channel that we ask on their behalf.

The delivery method will be in 3 media parts with an intuitive connecting purpose. A feature-length documentary, a weekly online web series, and a podcast. The web series will focus on the various humanitarian efforts along the border with some content from the Asylum Seekers as well. The podcast will be a companion to the web series, another means of following outside of visual media. The feature-length will not be available until some time after the project finishes.

This project will be implementing a comprehensive resource/searchable database. A large problem I have always encountered was from people wanting to do something to help without any idea where to start/reach out. We are creating a searchable database according to location and type of humanitarian work. If you were to search for legal aid, a list of all the legal teams along the border would populate. You could narrow it down to the state or port of entry if you wanted.

The list will show the organizations/humanitarian efforts(grassroots, individuals, organizations) with the webisode and podcast they are featured in. This gives the donor the ability to watch or listen to our experiences with them and see what they do exactly. From there,  they will be presented with links to their website, social media, donation, and volunteer (if they have that option).  This gives donors or would-be volunteers a place to research the many amazing efforts along the border and make an educated decision on where to donate/volunteer.

I need to come up with $1,500 and this is my idea behind this number:
Van title into nonprofit - Unknown Cost ($50)
License plate cost - $52
Vehicle Insurance - Unknown Cost
Adobe CC - $25/month
Podbean - $10/month
Phone bill - $30/month
Gas - budgeted for $400
Food budget - $15-20/wk
Unknown variables.

I have set the amount to $2,000 because I am not doing this as the nonprofit. They withhold donations for a month before giving them that way. This way is pretty much instant with fees. Thank you so much for even reading this! I will be creating a patreon that will be the main source of funding once I get past this sudden obstacle. You are also welcome to donate directly to the nonprofit via:
Paypal
Venmo

With love and solidarity,
