Jambo, family and friends!
As if it were yesterday, I so clearly remember the start of the longing to go across the globe to a land I have never stepped foot on. Ever since 8th grade when I attended my youth group’s summer camp, I felt the drawing of the Lord to minister and love on children specifically in Africa. At this camp, the speaker prophesied over me that the Lord was turning my mourning and hurt into love and passion. Since then, my heart has been filled with that passion and that love, making me more than ready to pour it out in that land I dream of. I have been presented with the opportunity to go to Africa this August which has left me speechless…it’s all I’ve been dreaming about. The desire I have to go to Africa is a desire like I’ve never felt before, one that causes me to sacrifice everything in order to go. I can't wait for my feet to hit the ground. I already see myself preaching the Gospel and loving the people the way the Lord loves me.
This August 11-22, myself and a team from Life Church will be flying to Kakamega, Kenya to Ushindi Children’s Home where we get the privilege of serving alongside Justus and Jane Amunga. During our time there we will get to love on the children from the home and school and take part of a women’s conference held locally. Ushindi exists to meet the needs of orphans by providing education, food, shelter, clothing, health care, skills training and Christian discipleship. We will partner with them to serve their children and the locals, to grow in love and to join with the body of Christ to further the Kingdom. I am eager and already picture myself there!
In order for this to happen, I have to raise $3,000 as soon as possible. This money will go towards a plane ticket, visa, the required shots and prerequisites for travel, food, and supplies. By June 15th, I have to have $1,700 in order to book a plane ticket, and I believe and trust the provision of the Lord to do so. In writing this letter, I wanted to share my heart in going and to give you the opportunity to partner with me in seeing this come to pass.
