We are still trying to find the reason why.
Sometimes there is no answer.
Sometimes only the void of what was once dreamed of,
the emptiness of what is now,
and what must be accepted
in order to move on.
Azariah Nova Ortiz came into the world on February 6, 2020.
Bob Marley's birthday
so much promise for the future
so much love surrounded
so far away from family.

Azariah Nova left us in the early morning hours of June 12, 2020.
a world of pain shortly fell like an unexpected burst of rain, thunder, devastation from darkened clouds.
flying across the world from Albuquerque to Hawaii
and beyond.
So much of his family never to meet him.
so much of his family never to hold nor hug him
so much of his family feeling the pain of never seeing him not again
not even for the first time.
dreams dashed upon the cliffs of a rocky shoreline
in a world of upheaval it is difficult for young parents to manage
to find a way through unexpected chaos
to find meaning in the meaningless.
to arrange death when life is just begun
for baby
for baby's mom
for baby's dad.
so grandma steps in. managing through the flow of tears
managing through miles and miles and miles of impassable terrain
"we have to arrange for a funeral and we have no money," she says,
"friends are saying gofundme, i don't know how, i never done it before....."
"don't worry," i tell her. "i have."
tho this is new
this is not celebration
this is painful
this is hard.
once again i lean upon my friends
family
loved ones
for support
for what it takes to
say goodbye
without a hello.
to one so undeserving of a life cut short
