Hi everyone,
For those of you who may not know me, my name is Janine Diehl. I’m Kekoa (Mario) Lupenui-Corpuz's niece.
It’s with a very heavy heart to share that on March 31, 2026, my uncle passed after a quiet battle with Prostate & Metastatic Bone Cancer. I know this may come as a shock to many of you, as he chose to keep his battle with cancer a private matter. However, that's exactly who he was - he never wanted to be seen through his struggles, only through the joy, laughter, and love he shared so freely with others. He wanted to be remembered for the good times… the smiles, the jokes, the hugs, and the way he made people feel.
As my family navigates this incredibly difficult time, we are also facing the unexpected financial burden that comes with laying him to rest. We would love to honor his wishes of having an open casket service to celebrate his life and so that his son, brother, and other family members are given the time to fly in from the mainland to say their final goodbyes.
As such, on behalf of our family, I’ve created this GoFundMe to humbly ask for any support you may be able to give toward his funeral/memorial expenses. Any donations, no matter the amount will help us to fulfill my uncle's last wishes and to alleviate any financial obligations that need to be paid.
If you're not able to donate - even sharing this page would mean a lot to our family.
Although our family is absolutely heartbroken, we're doing our best to process this loss and honor his life in a way that reflects who he truly was. My uncle was the definition of “Mr. Aloha.” He had a gift for connecting with people - whether you knew him for years or just met him, he made you feel seen, welcomed, and loved.
His presence was vibrant, his heart was big, and his love ran deep.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, prayers, and love during this time. We appreciate all of you more than you know. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we navigate through this difficult time.
Thank you most of all for loving him the way you did.
