Our beloved sister-in-law Alma suffered an unexpected hemorrhagic stroke on January 8th, 2021 while attending a zoom meeting related to her faith. They performed a craniotomy on the same night, which saved her life and was put on a ventilator . Over her stay at the hospital, two weeks later due to complications they performed a Tracheostomy. After 3 weeks she finally responded and was able to have it removed.  As of February 16th, 2021 she was transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Riverside to regain movement of her body. 

Alma has always abided to a principle based on the scriptures. When helping people "do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing".
(Matthew 6:3) She loves helping others and for those who know Alma they are aware the she would never ask for anything in return. She has always put interest of others as a priority instead of her needs. Always mindful in going out of her way in helping others.

This also has reflected on her work ethic and values in aiding others. In the course of nine years, she worked for the Lanterman Regional Center which provided services and helping with individuals with, or at risk, developmental disabilities and their families. She has also participated doing voluntary work in the community providing helpful advice for many who desperately seek help and solace. 

Alma has brought so many good memories and her great sense of humor has been joy and laughter to our family. She is adored by her husband Luis (our brother) of 25 years of marriage and loved dearly by her daughter Helena. For those who are close to Alma, they know her great qualities, she is an exceptional friend,  a wife and mother. 

Alma's post care rehabilitation and road to recovery will be an extensive process, requiring continued therapy. The cost of her care will soon exceed both what is covered by medical insurance and the financial resources available to her. It is with the utmost humility and gratitude to ease some of the pecuniary burden, by supporting and coming together to help Alma and her family on this tough long journey to her recovery.

Nuestra amada cuñada Alma sufrió un accidente cerebrovascular hemorrágico inesperado el 8 de enero de 2021 mientras asistía a una reunión de zoom relacionada con su fe. Le realizaron una craneotomía esa misma noche, que le salvó la vida y le pusieron un ventilador. Durante su estancia en el hospital, dos semanas después por complicaciones le realizaron una traqueotomía. Después de 3 semanas finalmente respondió y pudieron  quitárselo. A partir del 16 de febrero de 2021 fue trasladada a un centro de rehabilitación en Riverside para recuperar el movimiento de su cuerpo.

Alma siempre se ha ceñido a un principio basado en las Escrituras. Al ayudar a las personas "no dejes que tu mano izquierda sepa lo que hace tu mano derecha".
(Mateo 6: 3.) A ella le encanta ayudar a los demás y aquellos que conocen a Alma saben que ella nunca pediría nada a cambio. Ella siempre ha priorizado el interés de los demás en lugar de sus necesidades. Siempre consciente de salir de su camino para ayudar a los demás.

Esto también se ha reflejado en su ética de trabajo y sus valores para ayudar a los demás. En el transcurso de nueve años, trabajó para el Centro Regional Lanterman, que brindaba servicios y ayudaba a personas con discapacidades del desarrollo o en riesgo de sufrirlas y sus familias. Ella también ha participado haciendo trabajo voluntario en la comunidad brindando consejos útiles para muchos que buscan desesperadamente ayuda y consuelo.

Alma ha traído tantos buenos recuerdos y gracias a su gran sentido del humor ha traído risas y alegría a nuestra familia. Es adorada por su esposo Luis (nuestro hermano) de 25 años de matrimonio y amada mucho por su hija Helena. Para quienes están cerca de Alma, conocen sus grandes cualidades, es una amiga excepcional, esposa y madre.

La rehabilitación posterior al cuidado de Alma y el camino hacia la recuperación será un proceso extenso que requerirá terapia continua. El costo de su atención pronto excederá tanto lo que cubre el seguro médico como los recursos financieros disponibles para ella. Es con la mayor humildad y gratitud aliviar parte de la carga pecuniaria, al apoyar y unirnos para ayudar a Alma y su familia en este duro y largo viaje hacia su recuperación.
