On January 2nd Allyson was in a terrible accident where she collided with a car while riding a motorbike in Thailand. She was at the beginning of a month-long vacation that she had been looking forward to for months, traveling through Southeast Asia with 3 friends. They started in Chang Mai where they had a wonderful New Year’s celebration. They planned to then travel from Chang Mai to Pai which is a 4-hour drive via motorbike. Unfortunately, it was during that journey that Allyson’s accident occurred resulting in her suffering multiple devastating injuries including shattering her shin, knee, and femur, tearing her ACL, severing tendons and ligaments in her right hand, cutting her head open, and internal bleeding. Allyson was immediately rushed to a local hospital in Chang Mai and admitted to the intensive care unit where she endured her first of many surgeries and blood transfusions. Unfortunately, there were delays in getting her the vital surgeries she needed at that hospital, so she had to be transferred to an intensive care unit at a private international hospital. Since being admitted to intensive care, Allyson has undergone 7 surgeries and 6 blood transfusions, and she still has many more surgeries and procedures to get through. Her parents, EJ and Marion, flew to Chang Mai to be with her and her brother, Steven, is there as well. Despite this extremely traumatic experience and the grueling amount of pain she is in, Allyson remains mentally strong. She is grateful for her medical team, her life, and the outpour of love she has received from her community.

Allyson’s medical team says it will be at least 3 months before Allyson is stable enough to be cleared to fly. Undoubtedly, she has a very long road of recovery ahead of her. Luckily, she did purchase travel insurance, however, she reached the cap of that coverage with just one surgery resulting in most of her medical care thus far being paid out of pocket. Beyond a tremendous amount of out-of-pocket medical expenses, Allyson is facing expenses for the car accident, the motorbike, and unexpected living costs for her family essentially being internationally relocated for 3-4 months. Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of knowing Allyson knows she loves her people fiercely and supports them endlessly. It is now our turn to show her, and her family, the depths of support Allyson has behind her. We hope the funds raised will alleviate some of the financial burdens she and her family are enduring by providing support for medical bills, unexpected international cost of living, travel expenses, dog sitting for her girls back home, etc. We are forever grateful for any support given.
