My name is Corey Sznajder and I'm looking to make a public database for NHL microstats. I will be tracking zone entries, zone exits, passing stats and a lot more for the upcoming season (and hopefully more than that) and will have the results posted on a weekly basis on my blog. I did this project for the 2013-14 season and it took me longer than planned due to internet issues and other various problems. This time, I will be renting out office space to help get around this and starting the project at the beginning of the year instead of in January like I did last time.
The results will be posted on my blog, The Energy Line , on a weekly basis in the form of screenshots and Dropbox files. There will be no paywall for this project and people are free to do whatever they want with the data after I post it (as long as proper credit is given).
However, I will need some help getting this project off the ground. Like I said, I'm not going to be working from home for this project since that slowed me down last time and I will need some extra funding for improving the hosting on the web site, since it's obviously not going to stay the way it is forever. Collecting the data & putting everything together also takes a massive amount of time and I'll need to committ to this full-time in order to pull it off.
Any help you can give me with this is greatly appreciated and I'm currently thinking of some cool reward options for those who donate. The database is going to be free to the public, but I want to do something extra for those who helped me get it off the ground. Any thoughts/feedback you have on that would also be appreciated.
Hockey was the most enjoyable to me when I was tracking stats, sharing data and doing analysis for the public, so this project being successful would mean the world to me and I can't think everyone enough for their help.
