He has never allowed it to stop him from accomplishing his desired goals. His Faith, attitude and lifestyle have prolonged the inevitable. A team of doctors advised him of options to survive this disease. His choices were dialysis and or transplant. For the past 6 years LaMonte has been on dialysis, 3 times a week for3hours and 45 minutes each day.
For anyone that knows LaMonte he has endured this life threatening disease with courage and perseverance. He has never complained given up or desired any pity. As no surprise there has been multiple family members, Church family, CrossFit friends who offered a kidney but to no avail.
So where are we now in the process?
LaMonte has received his final health clearance and we are excited to say he will receive a Kidney in 1-3 months. This has been a challenging anticipating journey to the Glory of God. LaMonte is excited at this rare opportunity of second chance at life that word cant explain. He understands the gravity of the challenges ahead but embrace them with hope. His wife Shelena and Daughters LaJoya Alena and Son-in-law all share in his Joy and are Thankful at second chance at life. Currently, LaMonte continues to frequently attend his dialysis sessions and nephrologist appointments as they keep a close eye on his health.
Why are we fundraising?
As a Veteran LaMonte has VA insurance, but there are numerous expenses that LaMonte will endure during and after surgery. The surgery will take place in Portland so he will have to stay their for at least 2 months
· Transportation expense
· Food expense
· Anti-rejection medication and others
· Lost wages for LaMonte(out of work up to 3 months)
· Wife(caregiver) out of work 2 months
· Alena(16) visitation expense(portland)
Asking friends and family to donate money is something that is very difficult for LaMonte and family. As a business Man he had hoped the business could finance his expenses. LaMonte struggles being in this position because he is usually the one helping and giving to others. It has been humbling experience to know that throughout this journey many people were willing to donate their kidney. Also, the support through, prayers, cards, words of encouragement has been overwhelmingly motivating to get to this point.
Please help LaMonte and family in their effort to have best outcome during this difficult but exciting transition in their life .The transplant process is long and complicated with up to 12 months of recovery. Your donation can help diminish the weight of financial burdens and help both LaMonte and Family focus on a healthy recovery and life. You can make a big difference with a large or small donation. Our family thanks you for your love and support.
With all my love and respect,
