The Short Story
Twenty-five years ago Michael Boyd experienced a construction accident that left him paralyzed and dependent on a wheelchair for mobility and exercise. Despite the limited use of his arms and hands, he has been able to participate in many outdoor activities including adaptive kayaking and adaptive hand-cycling. As you can imagine, dealing with the countless obstacles presented by the spinal cord injury has been a challenge. However, Michael has remained positive and upbeat, active and friendly, while holding positions on several church and civic advisory boards.
The Current Scenario
Recently, while out and about (two days in a row), Michael was thrown onto the ground when the two small wheels of his chair met a crack in the pavement. While his wheelchair and footrests came to an abrupt stop, momentum propelled him forwards into a heap. Fortunately, he survived without serious injury and kind people lifted him back into his chair.
The Solution
The solution to Michael’s situation is an all-terrain wheelchair that can handle uneven surfaces. His research has led him to the Mountain Trike Evo, a chair that can accommodate those with limited hand function. This chair was designed to be stable while rolling along city streets, beaches, parks, and woodland trails. He would love to have this safe, reliable, all-terrain chair that will expand his boundaries in the great outdoors.

His insurance plan only covers a basic wheelchair and deems the all-terrain chairs as “recreational”.
