Hello! My name is Allison (AKA Allisons_Losing_it)
I went from 447.4 pounds to 185.2 pounds in 3 years. Below is my story.
In December of 2020, I was nearing my largest weight ever. I was depressed and quit taking care of myself. My first ah-ha moment was when I went to the emergency room with shortness of breath and chest pain. I thought something was seriously wrong with me. All my tests checked out and the doctor determined it was either anxiety induced or a pulled chest muscle. I was discharged from the ER with instructions to follow up with my primary care physician. Well, that was a little hard as I had not been to a doctor in several years. I knew I had to take my health seriously, and I started the hunt for a new PCP. It took several months to get into a doctor, but by June of 2021, I had my first appointment and blood work was ordered. A week later I received a devastating call from my doctor that I was type two diabetic. This was my second ah-ha moment. I knew I had to take control of my health.
I started with Keto and lost 99 pounds over the next 9 months. As with most weight loss journeys, I hit a brick wall and was struggling to lose any more weight. It was around that time I was starting to hear of a new diabetic medicine called Mounjaro that had hit the market. By October of 2022, I started Mounjaro and went on to lose an additional 163.2 pounds. I have now lost a combined total of 262.2 pounds, and I am within 5.2 pounds of hitting my goal weight of 180.
Unfortunately, my progress is hard to see with the excessive amount of loose skin. It is mentally challenging to accept that I may be almost at my goal weight, but this is not my goal body. I am starting the process of discussing an extended arm lift with a local surgeon and received a price quote of $9500. This is not covered by insurance, and would be completely out of pocket. I am afraid that if I don't pursue this now, that I may never have it done.
If you made it this far in my story, thank you so much. I appreciate you.
