In the midst of Covid-19, Allison was diagnosed with stage II Hodgkin's Lymphoma. One day while rock climbing , Allison noticed a sharp pain in her right collarbone and went in for an ultrasound, only to find out that there was some abnormalities in her lymph nodes. Upon a biopsy, the unfortunate diagnosis came back that she had Classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma .
After the initial biopsy, the CT scan showed four tumors - one located under her right collar bone, two on the right side of her neck, and a large one located next to her heart. As a 25 year old, this diagnosis came as a shock.
Allison is a Registered Nurse who worked at Region's Hospital. The key word being "worked," because once chemo begins, she will no longer have the ability to fight off infections. Due to the high risk nature of her job during the Covid-19 pandemic, Allison will not be able to continue her work on the front lines. The financial impact of losing her job will make paying for treatment, living expenses, and student loans difficult.
In addition to cancer treatment, Allison also has to worry about her fertility. It has always been a dream of Allison's to become a mother. Due to the type of chemo she will be receiving, it puts that dream in jeopardy. To ensure Allison can achieve this dream, she will be undergoing fertility treatment. However, the treatment is not covered by her insurance and the financial impact of this alone is going to cost around $15,000.
Allison is a kind, energetic, and strong person, but the financial toll that this will have on her will be significant. The world is suffering from the Covid-19, yet if you can donate to Allison's medical treatment, we would be grateful.
