Allison Farley’s Brain Surgery Fund

Donation protected
As a parent, you want to do all you can to keep your children safe and healthy. Unfortunately, sometimes there are things out of our control. My sweet niece, Alli, isn’t your normal teenager. Instead of trying to decide which outfit to wear, stressing about a math test, or who she has a crush on; she’s worried if she’ll have a seizure, an unbearable headache, or just being too exhausted to function due to side effects of her medications.  The thought of your child having brain surgery is absolutely terrifying, but after numerous failed attempts to control Alli’s symptoms, (and actually getting worse) then there really isn’t another option. You give it to God, place all your trust in the doctors, and wait.

Allison Farley (Alli) is a 13 year old student at West Memorial Junior High School in Katy, Texas. In December of 2017, her doctors at Texas Children’s Hospital discovered a tumor in her Right Temporal Lobe in her brain, which was causing multiple focal seizures. After several attempts to control her seizures with anti-seizure and anxiety medications, Alli’s team of doctors have decided to proceed with brain surgery.

Initially, Allison was to have her surgery this summer. She has already completed three MRI’s, two EEGs, and a MEG test since her diagnosis last December. Unfortunately, these tests have not been able to confirm where the seizures are coming from. The doctors want to be 100% sure that the seizures are all coming from the tumor area. Therefore, Alli will now need a 7 day inpatient EMU (coming up in September) prior to her brain surgery.

Post-surgery, Alli will continue to have periodic MRI’s, doctor appointments, and stay on her anti-seizure  medications for six months (before weaning her off).

As you can imagine, Allison’s family have been under an enormous amount of emotional and financial stress! She missed 72 days of school last year, which caused her mom, Jackie, to miss a lot of work. Now, with more testing ahead and her brain surgery coming up, she will continue to have to take an excessive amount of time off work. To make things even more stressful, J.R. (Alli’s dad), was laid off his job at the end of June. Thankfully, he found a new job quickly; however, in order to keep their current insurance plan active, they’ve had to elect COBRA, (which is crazy expensive compared to normal premiums).

We appreciate all your prayers, and ANY help is greatly appreciated. If you are able to donate, we are so very thankful. If you prefer to donate via PayPal, Jackie’s address is: [email redacted] or Venmo @Jackie-Farley-4
Sharing this link and her story is just as important! Let’s get this sweet girl back to enjoying life!
