We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed—thanks to your generosity, we reached our goal in record time and have secured the funding needed for Allison’s headstone and donated in Allison’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society.

As many of you are aware, we recently lost our dear colleague and friend, Allison Coombs, who passed away in late April. Her warmth, kindness, gentle humour, and unwavering dedication left a deep and lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A devoted member of the George Brown College Assessment Centre for over 20 years, Allison brought heart and enthusiasm to everything she did. Her absence is deeply felt.

While every effort to locate a next of kin has been exhausted, she was laid to rest with a municipal burial at Thornton Cemetery in Oshawa on July 9th, 2025.

As the municipality does not provide any monuments (markers) to identify her resting place and only provides a simple number plate (lot number), we would like to come together as a community to honour Allison’s memory with a headstone, something that reflects the care and respect we hold for her.

We have found an option that is both beautiful and fitting for the space, at a reasonable cost. The headstone, including installation, will cost about $980.50.

If you are able, we kindly invite you to contribute toward this small but meaningful gesture to ensure Allison’s final resting place is marked with the dignity and love she so deserves.
