Allira's Gender Affirming Top Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, we are fundraising money for Allira Krakouer’s gender affirming top surgery. If you’re unfamiliar with this procedure, it is a surgery that removes breast tissue and reshapes the chest to create a more masculine appearance for gender-queer people.
Allira is a Whadjuk Ballardong Yuet Minang person with connections to the Yamatji and Wongi tribes.
Allira identifies as non-binary and prefers to use the pronouns they/them. It has been a long and, at times difficult, journey for Allira to understand their identity and how to accept themself. Allira knows that undergoing top surgery will help them feel more comfortable and confident in their body and happy about themself.
For many non-binary or genderqueer people, the process of transitioning, embodies not only a deeply personal struggle but also a financial hurdle. Gender affirming procedures, such as top surgery, carry substantial price tags, acting as a barrier to one’s bio-psycho-social wellbeing.
These procedures, though essential to the well-being of those undergoing them, are frequently perceived as cosmetic rather than medically indispensable. This means that medicare does not offer any assistance, and there are no medical rebates available. The typical cost of gender affirming top surgery can range from $15,000 to $25,000 or more.
We are asking for donations (every cent counts!) to engage in the transformative processes that will align Allira with their authentic self.
Thanks to those who have already donated, Allira has been able to have a consultation with a surgeon and will soon begin the psychological assessments to undergo gender affirming surgery. Allira has received a quote of about $25,000 for the surgery and hospital stay alone. It is also around $1000-$1500 for the psychological assessments. We really need your help, this is an incredibly large amount of money that is very difficult to achieve with the rise in cost of living, so we are asking for as much support as possible. Please help in any way you can. We can’t thank you enough ❤️
