Greetings,

Through the ups and downs of graduate school over the past year, our small Occupational Therapy Doctoral Greater Omaha Class of 2017 has grown exceptionally close. Every student has played a unique role in the cohesive functioning of our cohort. Unfortunately, after a recent accident, one of our essential members has been hospitalized for an extended period of time, due to a mandibular fracture, among other complications. This tragic news has taken a toll on all of us.

Our friend, (Manny) Emmanuel Idun, moved here from Ghana at the age of five. Along with his parents, he moved to America for the chance of a better life. He has worked hard throughout his life to get accepted into Creighton’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions and is passionate in his pursuit of a doctorate in occupational therapy. Because of the accident, he now has to overcome a great obstacle in his academic dreams. However, he is relentless and motivated, which is why taking a medical leave of absence is not an option for him. This is also fueling his progression in rehab. Even with a tracheotomy and being in extensive pain, Manny is still completing all mandatory coursework in the hospital, to finish off the current term with the rest of us.

Manny has recently been released from the hospital and is currently recovering in his apartment with the aid of family members. Regardless, Manny is determined to push past his unfortunate medical circumstances and continue to strive for his dreams. We have been at his side every day since the accident, but now our class would like to reach out to the community for help. Please help our friend during this difficult time. Our goal is $5000 but any amount of donations will make a difference. Thank you so much, I know he greatly appreciates the support!
