On February 26th, 2021, my sister’s life changed forever. After a blissful 5 months enjoying her miracle baby, Allie once again, is facing a life altering challenge.

Allie was visiting our brother Luke out in North Carolina, when she had to go the ER due to shortness of breath. The doctors did a CT scan of her lungs to diagnose pneumonia. Allie received a call the next day and was told they found an ascending aortic aneurysm on the CT scan and Allie was to follow up with her doctors at home.

It has been determined that Allie will need open heart surgery. This surgery is scheduled for September 7th. It can not be done in Fargo, as Duluth is the closest facility to do this type of surgery and Allie has the best Surgeon to do this.

Thankfully, Allie hasn’t experienced many symptoms until a few weeks ago, when she started having chest pains. She was airlifted to Fargo and more tests were completed. It was found that Allie’s main Aneurysm has grown and there are now 2 more that were not there a few months ago. One in the aortic arch and one in the descending aorta.

Since having the baby and all the doctor appointments that go along with seeing specialists for this condition, Allie and Tyler have very little PTO available. Allie’s recover will be at least 8-12 weeks long. Allie will have lifting restrictions and can not drive for at least 4 weeks. With the surgery being in Duluth, Allie will be recovering at our mom’s house in Moose Lake for the first month and mom will be taking FMLA leave to care for her, driving Allie to rehab, follow up appointments and all that goes with this recovery.

Tyler will be heading back to South Dakota for work and to care for Hazel Grace, as soon as Allie is “out of the woods”. Tyler will be traveling when he can, to be with Allie and to bring baby girl to see momma as much as possible.

We are asking for any possible support you can give to my sister and brother-in-law to ease the financial burden this life changing challenge brings BUT I ask for prayers the most. Allie is a warrior, and she has a strong army behind her. Let’s show her support, love and again, many many prayers.
