Supporting Allie's Medical Costs

Donation protected
On March 12, 2014, I was driving home from work on my Vespa scooter and was hit by a truck at the traffic light just seconds away from home. The driver of the truck, which belonged to his parents, had no insurance and showed little remorse for his actions. He had no intentions of helping me get off the asphalt road during the situation. Nearby bystanders in their cars and elsewhere came to help at the scene of the accident.

When I stood up and realized what just took place, I remember being worried about my mouth. Six months prior to the accident I had cosmetic top jaw surgery and was cleared by my doctor to ride my Vespa scooter just a couple months before the accident. I felt around my mouth with my tongue and found out right away that there was a problem. I had braces at the time that were pushed into my upper lip and several of my teeth were taken out of my gums.

The ambulance and police arrived as well as close friends and family, helping give the paramedics the information they needed. The reality of the accident and the pain kicked in, I fell to the ground and blacked out. When I woke up I saw the road rash along my arms and legs as I was being lifted onto a stretcher and put into an ambulance. Soon after, I was at Shands Hospital receiving emergency surgery to my mouth.

As an eighteen year old, I tried my best to navigate all of the doctors, insurance companies, and attorneys in an attempt to get the support I needed.  With my family living in another state and me being on my own, it was certainly a challenge for me as I was inexperienced with such situations and now realize that perhaps I was taken advantage of due to my naivete.  With that said, I continue to try to pay the medical bills that accumulated since the accident.  Although it is very difficult for me to ask others for help, I am appreciative of any and all support that would allow me to put this event behind me so that I can move forward without the weight of medical bills and the stress reliving the events that occurred.

Thank you in advance for considering my cause and please know that any amount will be helpful. If a donation is not possible, then please consider sharing my story with others and keep this endeavor and me in your prayers.
