Hey Everyone,
I’m Allie. I am 27. I live in Lakewood, Colorado with my boyfriend and our two dogs Rick and Rango. As a skateboarder and an artist my mobility is greatly important and necessary. The ability to keep my body healthy is beyond a desire, but a need. I have been blessed to have good health for most of my life, but have put off this issue for too long. There is a corrective surgery that I am now in line to receive, but having to put off due to the weight and associated costs.
As I am currently without health insurance the expected costs with surgery and bed rest is roughly $50,000. I realize that is a huge amount of money so I am hoping to raise the $15,000 to at least be able to get the procedure started. If I am unable to raise the entire amount I will try and finance the rest. If I am able to get insurance the costs are still expected to be right around $15,000 which is why I am setting that amount to raise.
Once I am able to have the surgery I will have a long road of physical therapy ahead. But, I know that this will allow a much better quality of life. It is scary to undergo something so important but I know it will be worth it. The money raised will also be to help with the surgery prep, the physical therapy and the loss of income while I am unable to work afterwards for over a month. I am hopeful that after recovery I will be able to resume activities that are crucial to my daily life.
