Alli & Ashley Fries

Hi, my name is Amy Greeley. Ashley might jokingly refer to me as her “work wife,” but she is a phenomenal friend & colleague of mine at Portage Public Schools. I created this fundraiser to help out this fantastic family because they mean a lot to not just me but many people in and out of our school community.

Alli (Ashley’s daughter) is an amazing 14-year-old full of intelligence, sass, spunk and creativity. She will be a freshman at Portage Northern High School this fall. The summer months for Alli were mostly spent battling sickness on & off. First COVID, then having her wisdom teeth out, and multiple infections. Alli was not recovering as quickly as doctors thought she should. After ruling out a few common sicknesses, lab work was done to find a cause. Alli was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukemia. This cancer is aggressive, so the medical team is being aggressive too. Alli is already in the middle of her first treatment session and will undergo approximately 5 more rounds of treatment, each consisting of 3-4 weeks in the hospital back to back with a few days home in between.

Ashley is a single mom, and although the family has good insurance, she will need to be off work a lot over the next 6-12 months. She needs and wants to be with her daughter. Not only to help care for Alli physically but to be there to support her mentally & emotionally as she battles through this phase in her life. Sick days and FMLA will not be enough to cover her necessary time off of work. I am hopeful that with some help, she can supplement some of her income to minimize the financial struggle. With some hesitation, the family decided to reach out to the community for support. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
