On Thursday, April 3, Michael and Sarah Bunge welcomed Theodore John into the world.

Sarah was plagued with high blood pressure during her pregnancy, which led to a brief hospital stay in January. After successfully managing her blood pressure with meds, a routine appointment on March 27 showed her levels were dangerously high again, so she was admitted to Methodist Hospital, part of the Mayo Clinic, and officially diagnosed with preeclampsia.

This diagnosis meant she'd stay in the hospital until Theo was born. The initial plan was to induce Sarah on Monday, April 7, at 34 weeks. However continued concerns over blood pressure resulted in labor being induced Tuesday, April 1.

At just 33.5 weeks, Theo was born weighing 4 lbs 15 oz and 18 in. At the time they decided to induce, doctors advised he would likely remain in the NICU for at least a few weeks. Once discharged, Sarah and Michael will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House adjacent to Mayo, to avoid the 45 minute commute from Austin, MN to Rochester to be with Theo.
