HELP!

This is not a post about being stuck somewhere needing a pull. This is not a post about needing parts somewhere in the world. This is a post about losing everything.

My dear friends Sven and Martina quit their jobs and sold everything they had to fulfill their dreams. They worked hard for many years to save up money. A dream that probably many of us share. To travel this beautiful earth and see as much as possible before we have to leave it.

Sadly their dream was forever destroyed when their home, an old Dodge Ram named Peppo, was washed away in Tadjikistan. The road suddenly collapsed under them and everything they had was lost.

They’ve built everything themselves, they didn’t just buy a 200k camper. They’ve lived in Peppo for the last years, traveling this world, meeting new people and fellow travelers along the way. Experiencing cultures that many of us probably never heard about, eating food where most of us would wrinkle their nose. A home on wheels that I personally have many beautiful memories to connect with. They’ve lived in this vehicle with their rescue street dog Clara for many years and they’ve also shared this little space with their Kyrgyz rescue street cat Kamikaze. They are such loveable and humble people who really don’t deserve such bad luck.

For those of you traveling planet earth, you know what kind of connection you have with your vehicle. It’s an indescribable bond that the majority doesn’t understand. The car is part of you and your family.

Imagine living in your rig for several years. All the memories. All the artifacts and souvenirs you’ve collected over this period of time. All the pictures you took to remember the beautiful moments this car has offered you. All the work and thought you’ve put into constructing it. Imagine all of this being lost in just a few minutes. No home to go back to. No computer to just turn back on and look at the pictures to remember the beautiful moments of the last few years. Nothing. Just the clothes you wear on your body. Just your passport in your hand.

They’ve experienced hospitality most can only dream of. So let’s help them out and bring them back on their feet.

Instead of the next Happy Meal at McDonalds or the next Whopper at BK, the next Starbucks coffee, the next beer or the next piece of cake. Please just donate a few €, $, £ or whatever currency you might use. It will be greatly appreciated. I know that 15k won’t get them back their truck but who knows maybe we can even collect more.

Dies ist kein Post weil sich jemand festgefahren hat, oder ein Ersatzteil braucht.

Dies ist ein Post für jemanden der alles verloren hat.

Meine Freunde Sven und Martina hatten einen schrecklichen Unfall mit ihrem Dodge Ram. Seit vielen Jahren ist der Wagen ihr dauerhaftes Zuhause in dem sie reisen.

Viele Jahre haben sie hart gearbeitet und Geld gespart, um sich diesen Traum zu erfüllen. Sie haben alles verkauft um dauerhaft in Peppo, wie sie ihren Lastenesel liebevoll getauft haben, zu leben. Alles haben sie selbstgebaut, mit viel Herzblut, unzähligen Stunden der Planung und Schweiß.

Vor wenigen Tagen hat plötzlich die Straße unter ihnen nachgegeben und ihr Zuhause auf Rädern wurde im Fluss mitgerissen und bis zur Unkenntlichkeit zerstört. Sie konnten gerade noch so die Pässe greifen, bevor alles was sie besitzen in den Fluten verschwand. Was übrig geblieben ist, sind die Klamotten am Leib und die wenigen Habseligkeiten die der Fluss am Ufer wieder angeschwemmt hat.

Viele Reisende wissen, dass das Auto der eigentliche Hauptdarsteller der Geschichte ist. Nicht umsonst geben wir unseren Fahrzeugen Namen. Sie sind ein Teil von uns und ein Teil unserer Familie.

Lasst uns das Internet für etwas positives nutzen und den beiden wieder auf die Beine helfen. Wenn jeder der diesen Beitrag liest, einfach nur auf ein Bier, einmal Essen gehen oder ein Stück Kuchen verzichtet und den sonst ausgegeben Betrag spendet, würde es den beiden wahnsinnig helfen.
