Hello there!
My name is Allen del Rosario and I am a 32 year old musician who has recently been accepted into the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts!
I know it may sound unusual as someone my age would probably be focused on settling down and establishing their career; well it's quite the opposite for me. I graduated high school back in 2001 and was immediately immersed into a musical career having had the honor and privilege of being a full time director of music for the Diocese of Oakland at a church called St. Clement in Hayward, California.
I like to walk around telling everyone, God has blessed me with a gigantic key chain with 88 keys. I've used a good amount of those keys to open many doors to many opportunities- from teaching kindergarteners-8th graders at a school, to playing for many lovely weddings, quinceñearas, funerals, bar mitzvahs, to working with the most talented local musicians in a recording studio, to songwriting with many talented lyricists- these "keys" have allowed me to partake in all of that.
I feel the next set of untouched "keys" are calling me to open new doors in Boston. I have been accepted into a prestigious school where I can mingle and learn from the best of the best musicians in the world.
But of course with every great opportunity, aside from the really hard work and dedication needed, may come a great cost. And this is where I really need some help, at least just for my first semester there. Unfortunately, after filling out the FAFSA, I am not qualified to receive financial aid my first year due to the fact that I had a decent income my recent tax filing year.
The total cost of the 6 semesters I'll be taking at Berklee is approximately $108,000! My tuition alone for the 1st semester is about $25,000! Yikes! And so through this page I am making an appeal- if my music has touched or inspired you in any way, whether it be while we were at church, or maybe I played for a special day of yours, or taught any of your children in school or through private lessons- while it may be a longshot to achieve this amount, any amount, even a dollar would be a tremendous help.
