All we want for Christmas is Forest to be okay again.
On Sunday while running the beach, our dear Forest began shaking uncontrollably, passing in and out of consciousness and burning with fever.
Three emergency vets looked him over and likely ruled out snakes and poisons, but nobody could figure out why he was struggling.
We ended up at the SASH emergency clinic where we had to experience the dreaded feeling of deciding if we can afford to give him the help he needs, or take him home to say goodbye.
With a dog as special as Forest and our pending plans to show him the rest of Australia this Christmas break, we had to try.
Over 24 hours later, he was diagnosed with a rare infection with fluid was building on his lungs. His inflammation levels were so high they didn’t have a marker on their tests. They recommended surgery and at least another 48 hours in the ICU.
Today, luckily for us, he’s now stable enough to be released as an outpatient and we will continue fighting for his life saving intervention. We have spent just under 10k so far for the boy. The emergency interventions are so painfully costly.
So, this year for Christmas, we thought we’d have our heart in our hands and ask for any contributions you may be willing or able to make for our special angel dog.
Protector of duckings, companion to chickens and comrade to kitten; the owner of our hearts. Forest touches the lives of so many people everywhere he goes.
Forever grateful for the love you’ve shown him and us already just by reading this far.
