For those of you that don't know the adorable 5 year old Oliver...this holiday season has taken an unexpected turn for the entire family. Here is an update from his mom:
"The initial testing of the tumors was not confirmed. The full pathology revealed that Oliver’s tumor is cancer. Our world has officially been rocked. So many emotions over the past few days. Our next step is radiation. We hope to get a place at a proton lab in Philadelphia. This is the recommended treatment for Oliver’s remaining tumor cells. Even though the surgery was successful and the resection was between 90-95% (the best possible result for this type of tumor resection) there are residual cells that were left behind. They are aggressive cells and they will continue to grow, if we do not treat. The oncologist told us today that with this type of tumor, the first shot is the best shot. If we were to treat and the cancer returns, radiation will not be an option again and there are no treatments other than clinical trials.
Step one... we get a spot at UPenn in Philly for proton radiation therapy.
Then after radiation we will have a short break and then onto chemotherapy.
We are going to hit this with everything we’ve got.
I know there are so many of you that have had us in your thoughts and prayers and we thank you so much for the love and positivity. We would appreciate continued prayers and positive vibes."
....PLEASE donate to this amazing family during this difficult time to help with his treatment and alleviate some of the stress. Thank you so much!
