For all the wonderful patients I cared for.
Donation protected
As many of my friends and family know, I spent the first 6 years of my career working in hospice care, caring for people at the end of their lives.
Unfortunately however, working in a hospice during the pandemic affected my mental health quite significantly, and I had to make the difficult decision to choose a new career path.
I looked after the most courageous, inspiring, strong, resilient people during my time working in hospice care, and although I have many difficult memories, I also have some wonderful memories that I will cherish forever.
Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice was the first adult hospice I had ever worked in, as I started out my career in children's hospice care. Looking after people my own age made me see my life from a completely different perspective, it taught me to be grateful for my good health and to make every day count.
I always said I would support Wheatfields after I left, as the patients had such a profound impact on my life. So with that said, I am running a half marathon to support this wonderful charity. I am running for those who I personally cared for, and for anyone who walks through those doors in the future.
Health is wealth.
Thank you in advance for your donations.
