Hi, I'm Kits mum & lone careparent Jodie. I have four children two of which are disabled. Kit is diagnosed severely nonverbal Autistic with significant difficulties. Kit cannot cognitively follow instructions with no awareness of danger. Kit has mobility difficulties is a Blue badge holder and wheelchair user. Kit does not have the brain capacity to access the community safely without a high level of care and assistance. Kits sensory processing is challenged which can cause him to harm himself or others out and about without the correct support or equipment. Kit has a younger sibling Hector who is also diagnosed with the same condition, but doesn't have the same mobility difficulties. As a family we are unable to access some environments which others take for granted and we are limited in our adventures together due to the disability. Which impacts us all and I feel deverstated I'm unable to share with them the childhood experiences I had growing up. I'm fundraising to purchase Kit his own All Terrain beach wheelchair which will change all our lives completely. At the moment we are limited to specific beach where we hire one, but want to go on adventures all around the coast and do lots of off road walks and maybe if we get brave enough a camping trip!
