ALL + ONE.
Building a community starts with the idea that we share a common experience. In the past, this has largely been a matter of geography - people who live in the same space have similar needs. In this modern world, communities need loftier aspirations to bring people together. ALL + ONE attempts to distill this into the simple fact that all queer communities need each other, that the rising tide will lift all boats, that each individual is supported by those who came before them.
The incredible progress made by the gay and lesbian communities has created a rallying cry that we can change society and we can uplift those who are persecuted however few they may be. We can inspire others with our talent and passion and help spread around some of that hard fought equality that we hold dear. This is why we are ALL + ONE.
For the event hosted on July 17th , we are donating all proceeds to the IRSSS (Indian Residential School Survivors Society) which is a charity that directly contributes to those who have been impacted by this embarrassing and appalling system of oppression. Residential Schools were essentially boarding schools where any trace of Indigenous culture or language was forcibly beaten out of children and punishments were severe enough that each of these sites have unmarked graves of children who never returned home. While our fundraising efforts will never undo the collateral damage caused by such practices, it is a small step toward empowering Indigenous communities to at least allow their new generations to flourish.
Please give what you can! Every little bit counts.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
[J & I]
