There’s a little shelter in Luling, Texas that does big things with very little—and right now, it could really use our help. The Luling Animal Welfare Society is an open-intake shelter, which means they say yes when others can’t. Every day, the staff and volunteers pour their hearts, time, and energy into caring for animals and serving their community. They show up—over and over again—for the ones who need it most.
A few of us volunteers are coming together to give back to them in a tangible way. We’re working on some simple but meaningful upgrades to make their space more comfortable, functional, and uplifting for both the people and the animals who spend their days there. Here’s what we’re hoping to improve: replace their fridge, update their loveseat in the meet-and-greet room, refresh the front waiting area chairs, upgrade their “lifestyle room”—a special space where dogs get a break from the kennels and experience what a home environment feels like, and update the bathroom, cat room, and kitchen space. These may seem like small things, but in a shelter environment, they make a huge difference.
The money raised will go towards purchasing furniture and appliance upgrades, paint, a deep cleaning crew, and other fixtures to improve each space in the shelter, including the bathroom, cat room, and kitchen. This shelter is tiny but mighty—and with a little help from our community, we can make a big impact. Whether it’s donating, sharing this post, or helping us source items, every bit of support matters. Let’s come together and show some love to the people who give so much of themselves every single day.
