All in for Alan’s Fight Against Cancer

This is our dear friend Alan Sellner, a 30 year old recently diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer. I have known Alan for about 9 years, initially meeting him at a friends wedding and reconnecting when we moved back to the area. Alan is always the kind of person that would give you the shirt off his back. He is so generous with his time and his gifts, never saying no to a friend in need. Alan is always there when his friends need him. Now it’s our turn to be there for him. Alan’s Story:     About 8 years ago, I went to see a doctor about a mass near my armpit. It was small but a bit worrisome. My doctor told me that based on touch and feel it was a lipoma (a benign fatty tumor) and there was nothing to worry about. I read that lipomas can grow, although rare, so when mine started growing, I didn’t think much of it.  Fast forward to this year and the mass is very uncomfortable, to the point where it presses on nerves and makes my arm go numb. I was advised to get a biopsy before removing the mass to ensure it’s benign and nothing more. I was feeling very confident about getting good results. However, 3 days later when the results came back, I was diagnosed with Lymphoma and was told there’s a 90% change I had stage 1A of a rare type of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  More tests were run and again I was feeling confident that this was isolated to my armpit region since I’m showing no other signs anything feeling wrong. The results came back. The cancer cells spread to my spleen and a small sliver on my L3 spinal column. My diagnosis changed to stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  The next step is to cut a portion of the mass near my armpit to get a 100% accurate read on the type of Hodgkin’s I have and insert an implantable port to get the chemo treatment into my body to distribute the treatment continuously. My chemo treatment will more than likely start in February and will go for 5 and a half months (6 rounds of chemotherapy and then radiation will begin to kill off what’s left. As of now, this is my story. Your contributions would go towards Alan’s medical bills. His insurance has a very high deductible of $5000 before anything is covered. With all the treatments and surgery Alan has to go through, there will be times he will have to miss work as well. Please contribute to Alan’s campaign: All in for Alan’s Fight Against Cancer to provide financial support for his chemotherapy and radiation treatments as he begins his journey down this difficult road. He will appreciate any amount you are able to contribute. Come together to help Alan when he needs it most - fighting cancer.
