All I want for Christmas is a new wheelchair

I guess the time has come for me to share my story and ask some of my friends and family for some greatly needed help. For those closest to me you know I hate to ask for help and I do my best to keep a lot of things close to my chest but the time has come where I need more help then those who are caring for me can provide. I've been absent from the scene for several years now because what many people don't know is in November of 2020 I damn near lost my life. I suffered a massive stroke. As if this wasn't the worst news ever my medical team failed to properly diagnose and medicate me and in that time I suffered an additional stroke in December of 2020 followed by a massive nearly catastrophic stroke in April of 2021. After my last stroke in 2021 I was left unable to complete any of my own daily living activities and depended 100% on the care and support from my medical team, my mother and my girlfriend. I was literally unable to speak, eat, swallow, hold my own body weight. My family was told to put me in a nursing home and that I would never recover my ability to live independently or to have a fulfilled life. My mother and my girlfriend refused to accept these odds and they took me home and created an environment in which I could rest, recover and thrive. Over the last three years I have attended countless therapies, appointments, worked with trainers and rehabbed at home and thanks to the love care and support I have received I am now able to do nearly everything they said I wouldn't. I can now eat anything I want, I can swallow without the use of thickeners, I CAN WALK, I can use technology and I am able to go out and enjoy life. Everything they said I would never do I am doing with the help of assistance devices, Tirzah and my mom. Now here comes my problem. Since my stroke I have been fighting to receive disability. Since November of 2020 I have had zero income. I currently have medicaid and they provided a wheelchair to me in 2020. However the chair they provided is not made for long term use it is made for transporting and short term rehab. Although I can walk it is a labor of love. I am slow and often unstable. I can do about 50 feet before I must rest. This is even more difficult depending on weather and the surface I am walking on. I still require the use of a wheelchair daily. I need a chair made for my body. The current chair I have is unsupportive and recently starting to cause muscle issues in my back where I am developing knots that are impacting my posture and ability to sit properly which in a short period of time will cause a curvature of my spine possibly hindering my ability to ever walk independently again. I have appealed with my insurance companies multiple times and each time I am denied this custom chair. So I am asking my friends, family and fans to help me get a new chair to aide in my recover in hopes that one day DJ Encyclopedia Brown will be in effect once again. I may not have the life I had before but this doesn't have to be the end of my story either!! If your able to help please do. Love y'all!!
