In times of tragedy, people often ask how they can help. Our beloved brother Mike passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022. Mike was the kindest human by any measure. His journey was a long one. Mike had diabetes and was on dialysis for many years before receiving a kidney transplant in 2021. Before the transplant surgery, Mike underwent open-heart bypass surgery in 2020. Right after the bypass surgery, Mike began experiencing some significant problems and was in and out of the hospital many times before they discovered metal clips had been left in Mike's leg during the bypass surgery, and he was septic. Fortunately, the doctors removed the clips, and Mike survived the sepsis. He eventually got his new kidney, and everyone who loved him was so excited about this. Unfortunately, Mike's new kidney had a virus called CMV. Though this is not uncommon with transplants, it posed a major issue for Mike. He had blood drawn weekly to monitor his CMV levels. In May of this year, Mike had to be hospitalized and administered IV antibiotics to combat the CMV. Through a series of unfortunate events, Mike deteriorated in the hospital and passed away July 7, 2022. Mike leaves behind the loves of his life, Debbie, Michael and Bailey.
Debbie is now solely responsible for caring for her two children, Michael and Bailey, as well as her elderly mother. Michael has special needs as well as epilepsy. Debbie's plate is full. In addition to grieving the loss of her precious husband, she is faced with many financial burdens. Any funds raised through this GoFundMe will be used to pay bills and care for Mike and Debbie's two children.
