All for Max cancer support

Saving our Sailor For Max My name is Teri Haban. My husband Milan and I received some very devasting news about our 22-year-old son Maxwell Haban. Maxwell is currently serving in the U.S. Navy as Nuclear Mechanic. Max had noticed a lump on his chest two weeks ago and decided to get checked out with the Navy Doctor on his base. The doctor sent Max in for a CT and Sonogram, and the results were unbelievable. Max has cancer with metastasis. As I write this, he is preparing for an MRI and Biopsy. Max has always wanted to be part of the military. Maxwell joined the Navy on his 19th birthday, in 2020. He went through bootcamp and Nuclear Training and Power Schools. He took additional training on welding after graduation. From there he was assigned to a submarine that is in dry dock. Not to be discouraged, Max took on the challenges of learning his job and continued training to become a Certified Submariner. He received his “Fish” earlier this year. It has always been Max’s dream to be on a sub. He pushed himself to get through the rigorous training that took over two years. We couldn’t attend his graduation from Bootcamp due to the Pandemic, and we weren’t able to attend his graduations from Nuclear Training or Power School. It was 23 months from the time he was sworn in to his first visit home. Max has always been a determined, smart, and caring person. He watched over his little brother and sister as they walked to school. He would fix his sister’s ribbons and tie her shoes. He always made sure the three of them made it to school on time. Max attended church and was an altar server for many years. He continued his faith journey up through his Senior year. He attended several faith-based retreats and learned about being kind, thoughtful, and generous. In junior high, Max joined the wrestling team and found a sport that he enjoyed. He was made to wrestle. Max thrived on the challenge of working through the moves to beat his opponents. He didn’t always win the match, but he learned from it. He listened to the coaches and practiced as often as possible. He went to weekend and summer camps to learn how to be the bestwrestler he could. In high school, Max continued to wrestle and made Varsity his freshman year. He continued to wrestle though out high school and became Captain his Senior year. That same year, his team won their division and brought a pennant home. My husband, Milan, suffered a massive heart attack in January2022. By some miracle, he survived this. His doctors were able to save him, but his heart is still very weak. Milan hasn’t been able to work since this life changing event. He is getting stronger every day, but he is still not where he would need to be. We are a family of 6. We have just one income. Max has three siblings, two are in school and working part-time, and the other is working. Our kids still live at home. As we consider our current financial situation, time off from work, and limited income; we have come to the realization that we needed to reach out to our community and ask for support. Milan and I are asking for your donations to help us to provide support and care to Max as he battles for his life. He is stationed in New Hampshire, and we are in California. We need support to pay for flights, housing, food, car rentals, and any other type of expenditures. We don’t know if Max will receive support from the U.S. Navy and receive the medical care he deserves. If not, we will need to find a way to support him there as well.
