All For Jordan

In a mission to do the right thing by my nephew, Jordan Ahye, I am sharing some moments to highlight this most special individual, for those who don’t yet have the privilege of knowing him.

At just 4 years old, when I would drop him home from our day out, as he crossed the threshold of the front gate, I would witness his energy shift from that of a little boy to that of a man with responsibilities to shoulder … he became protector at such a young and tender age.

On an ominous Christmas morning in 2002, my nephews Jordan and Ethan lost their Dad, my dear and beautiful brother, Colin. Not long after, 'my Boys' moved to England, where they met a foreign culture and a new life, not always fair nor the most welcoming.

Through all of Jordan’s life, setbacks and all, he has been blessed with the most remarkable ‘Innerness’ a quality difficult to define … an inner knowing … intelligent awareness … a fair spirit and sensitivity towards all and a jubilant and robust sense of Trini humour.

Yesterday, Jordan, at just 30, suffered a stroke …

From the moment he was able, Ethan was by his side, as were our family, whether near or far. Jordan suffered paralysis on his right side and lost his speech. At Stoke Hospital, they took such good care of him and operated to remove the blood clot in his brain.

We are so relieved and grateful that everything went in Jords favour, and now he is gently recovering.

Further tests are being done to try to establish the root cause …
