UPDATE:

This project started with the structure of an EP consisting of 5 songs. However due to a very tight schedule and limited timeline, we managed to prepare only 3 tracks out of the initial 5.

Bearing that in mind, the budget for the fundraiser is now accordingly reduced from 2,000 to 1,250.

Up until now the funds raised enabled me to:

- Pay for the production, mixing and mastering of the EP.

- Pay for the distribution of the EP in many major streaming platforms.

- promote the release of Horis Pnoi (track 1/3)

- Create and promote content for the single’s social media marketing and branding campaign.

- Enhance my professional platforms, with tools which will enable audiences to access my work and music easily.

- Provide compensation gifts to the musicians and all professionals involved in this project.

The fundraiser will be kept open until the end of March for anyone who would still like to make a donation, helping me to keep promoting the release of this project.

Project's Story:

Midia is constantly experimenting with the "old" and the "new" in her music making, combining classical and folk characteristics with contemporary and indie - pop musical elements, highlighting traces of her Cypriot culture and heritage by using powerful Greek lyrics.

Forthcoming project “Alkyonides Meres” is a bittersweet, nostalgic ode to Midia’s teenage years, which is named after and inspired by a meteorological phenomenon related to the Greek myth of Alcyone and Ceyx. For a fortnight during wintertime in Mediterranean regions, the days have intense sunlight and the temperatures rise significantly. During these days the star Alcyone of the Pleiades cluster is visible at night, hence the name “Alkyonides Meres”. In fact the song which the EP was named after was written during period in 2023.

Midia never considered herself a songwriter; but that changed when she moved to the UK to study music in 2021 . Going through seasonal depression, she found comfort and managed to escape from that mindset through writing.

In this EP, she explores the concepts of identity and human relationships. Midia expresses the constant struggle of balancing your emotions as a young adult while being away from everything and everyone that you love, constantly feeling like you are missing out on life. She shares how she regrets not being courageous enough

and reminisces past memories, wishing to relive them while realising that it is impossible to do so. Midia encourages us to find the light within, to find our own “Alkyonides Meres” despite how dark it might get.
