jMy God daughter Alíz was born on 7th September 2015 by emergency caesarian at 29 weeks of pregnancy and she weighed just 1.3kilo. At the birth her mum Denisa lost 2 ½ litres of blood and Alíz's heart slowed down, this led to a severe bleed to the brain. This bleeding caused a condition called Hydrocephalus, which causes an enlarged head. When Alíz was just 1 month old she had an operation to the brain where they inserted a permanent tube called 'VP Shunt' to help circulate the brain fluid in the body.



After this life saving operation her parents had the devastating news that in the Doctors opinion Alíz would never lead a “normal life,” that she would not develop both psychically and mentally and would not reach important milestones that most parents take for granted such as sitting and walking without help. Alíz's mental health would also be affected. 



Once they received this prognosis all of us refused to believe nothing could be done to help my God daughter lead a better life and so we carried out extensive research and found a method called Deveny. This is a type of physiotherapy which could strengthen her muscles to enable her to sit or even walk unaided.



Unfortunately the Deveny treatment is not available on the NHS and the cost of each session is £50, which Alíz’s parents have been funding themselves. Alíz has been having this treatment 3 times a week since she was 3 months old. Alíz is now 1 ½ years old and despite the doctors original diagnosis she can now sit unaided for couple of minutes and is starting to show positive signs of having the strength to maybe even walk one day and is also noticing and responding to the environment around her.



Doctors have since informed us that despite all of the progress Denisa’s amazing daughter has made they do not expect her to progress any further and so do not recommend she continue with any more treatment. I feel that if Alíz’s mum had listened to this advice at the beginning when they told her Alíz would never sit unaided we would not have witnessed the miracle of her doing just that. We believe we need to continue with this treatment for Alíz's sake, to enable her to continue to grow strong to give her the opportunity to reach her full potential but now we also need to help her develop mentally.



We again did some research and have found a treatment called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

which we believe would help Alíz further so she can continue to go beyond the doctors prognosis. This treatment is a combination of physiotherapy and mental development. This is a residential therapy and to give Alíz the best chance of success she would have to undergo this treatment for one week of every month for a year. This therapy is available in Hungary and Denisa with her daughter would need to travel every month for Alíz to have this treatment. The cost of this treatment would be 620€ without food or travel expenses. Along side this treatment Alíz would still need to continue the Deveny treatment which is costing us £600 per month. 



To ensure Alíz receives this life changing treatment family needs at least £1,500 per month to fund both the Deveny and Transcranial Megnetic Stimulation treatments and travel costs involved, which is something they cannot afford to do. 



Our goal is to raise at least £18,000 which would fund both of these amazing treatments for one year to see what progress Alíz can make in this time. We believe these treatments would give Alíz the best chance in life, and we would be grateful for any donations no matter how small to help her to do all of the things doctors have told us would not be possible.
