Alize's Heart Surgery Journey

Hello, my name is Logan and Alize is my 5 year old daughter! Shortly after her birth she was diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect (a hole in her heart between the top two chambers). We waited for it to miraculously close (as sometimes that can happen as children grow) on its own but, due to the size of the hole that did not happen. July 17th 2025 she went in for a heart cath in hopes that would solve the problem. Unfortunately, the doctor at University of Michigan Motts Childrens Hospital was unable to close the hole due to size and location of the hole. So, September 3rd 2025 she will go in for open heart surgery to close the hole. I'm so grateful that we get to have this done at one of the best hospitals but, it's super expensive. From the drive to and from the many appointments prior to the surgery, lodging as we have to stay 5-7 days (without complications), food, medical bills, and the time I'll be taking off work to stay with her as I will not be leaving her side with continued bills rolling in; I realize this isn't going to be an easy journey! I discovered with our recent stay for the heart cath that Ann Arbor is much more expensive than I anticipated. I work a full time job, am almost 6.5 months pregnant, and have two kids (one being Alize). I hate asking for help but, this is an unexpected turn we are having to take and I realize I do need some help. Someone suggested this and I figured it couldn't hurt.
