Alivia's Hope

Alivia Hope Cushing was born in the early morning hours of December 27. We will lay her to eternal rest on Saturday, January 7, 2023. We are absolutely crushed.

On December 26, 2022, my wife Jen and I arrived at the hospital full of love and excitement to meet our baby daughter. What started as anxious anticipation ended in complete devastation. We found our precious baby girl had passed on, stillborn. Instead of starting our life with this precious gift we departed the hospital broken-hearted, empty, and alone. Our heads were spinning, and we were distraught with grief. With no counsel, or support we felt neglected, confused, and without resources or guidance. We had no idea just how difficult things were about to become.

We waited nearly a week for a call of guidance and support we were told to expect from the hospital. That call never came. We were left to our own devices, having to plan and coordinate every facet of our daughters' burial (funeral home, cemetery, casket, gown, service, transfer and coordination), with no help or experience. Depression and grief had us preferring to curl up into a ball and mourn our tragic loss. It's been the most difficult week of our lives. No parent should ever go through this unimaginably horrific experience without proper resources, guidance, and support.

Our experience, coupled with the desire to honor our beautiful baby girl, has inspired us to start our foundation, Alivia's Hope. Our goal is to offer guidance, support, and resources to parents of stillborn, miscarriage, fetal demise, or any other infant loss. We Hope to use the lessons we’ve learned during our tragedy to help parents facing similar struggles to navigate the nearly unbearable first few days after an unimaginable loss.

We plan to use the initial funds to legally start our non profit foundation and to begin providing immediate support to the Baltimore-Annapolis communities, with a long-term goal to expand our reach throughout Maryland and the United States.

Our purpose is to bring grieving parents a little Hope in an otherwise dark time.

Please consider honoring our precious baby girl, while helping to support grieving families within our community. And finally, please pray for Alivia Hope Cushing, our guardian angel.❤️
