A Little Help from Mike's Friends

Many of you have know Mike Blum as a kick ass guitar store owner,  a talented and accomplished songwriter and musician,  a jovial bartender or the dear friend he has been to many of us.  Maybe you haven't seen him in a while, he hasn't been spending much time out and about on the social scene but I can assure you he is the same kind hearted soul you remember.

What you may not know, is that for many years Mike has been battling a degernative brian disorder called Huntington's disease.  It is a genetic disorder that has already claimed the life of his own father and younger brother much too soon. 

Perhaps you have heard some strange stories about his appearance or behavior that didn't seem to add up given the man you knew.  If you're unfamiliar with Huntington's you should know that as it ravages the brain it can cause unusual behavior and difficulty processing signals in the part of the brain that handle decision making and impulse control long before some of the more debilitation physical symptoms become apparent.

I am putting up this page, because Mike is going through a very diffcult time at the moment and could really use a little help from his friends.  

While a higher power may have a plan that we cannot change, we can let him know that he is loved and aid in his comfort in the time he gets to spend with us.

Anything you can do to help, even if its just a few dollars you can spare would be greatly appreciated.
