Alitta Needs Us: A Life-Saving Appeal

Imagine trying to build a new life abroad, only to be struck by a life-threatening heart condition, leaving you unable to work and far from family. This is Alitta John's reality.

A determined and hardworking young woman, Alitta immigrated to Canada in December 2022 and recently completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management. But just weeks ago, on February 10, 2025, her life changed forever when she was rushed to the London Health Sciences Centre with an acute Type A aortic dissection-a deadly heart condition requiring emergency open-heart surgery.

The procedure was complex: aortic root reconstruction, hybrid arch repair, and pacemaker implantation. While the surgery saved her life, the complications that followed-aspiration pneumonia, vocal cord paralysis, and a severe conduction block-have left her in prolonged hospitalization, unable to work, and drowning in medical debt.

Why Your Support Matters

Alitta is on a work permit and was working part-time to support herself. Now, she is medically unfit to work or travel back home, and her family cannot be here to care for her. She has no relatives in Canada and is relying on the kindness of her roommates for her basic needs.

Her medical bills have gone beyond $100,000, and she is struggling to afford follow-up treatments, medication, and essential living expenses.
