Alison Relyea - Stage 4 Multifocal Glioblastoma
Donation protected
I’m writing this as Alison’s aunt, godmother, and friend. She was born when I was only 13 and has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. She is the life of the party, as anyone lucky enough to spend even a small amount of time with her knows. She is hilarious and a little mischievous, very talkative and always up for a good time.
Alison is the mother to two beautiful daughters, Lucia (15) and Wren (9). She chose a career helping others when she decided to become a surgical nurse. She is a daughter, a sister, a cousin, and a niece. When her Nanny (my mother, her grandmother) was in the last few years of her life, Alison was a loving granddaughter and my support system, something I will always be grateful to her for.
In June 2022, Alison began feeling numbness in her left leg. She had a total spinal fusion in February, so attributed the numbness to that. After a couple of weeks passed, with no improvement, she went to the ER. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Multifocal Glioblastoma.
Everything happened very quickly after that. Alison is now paralyzed on her left side, and unable to move without the assistance of an aid. She requires 24-hour skilled nursing care. Because she is only 48, she is too young to qualify for the quality assisted living facilities she needs. Our hope with this fundraiser is to raise enough for Alison to afford the at-home care she needs.
