This Gofundme page is for Alison Apostle. Alison had an accident while skiing at Bridger Bowl, MT. on March 28, 2024. After an ambulance ride to the Bozeman Hospital and x-rays and CAT scans, it was determined that she had broken her back and would need immediate surgery at Billings Clinic in Billings, MT. Within hours she was transported by ambulance, then plane, and then another ambulance to the Billings Clinic, where they performed emergency surgery during the middle of the night that lasted five hours. The surgery included a laminectomy, vertebrae being fused together, and 9 bolts and 2 rods being installed in her spine. There is some damage to the nervous system of the spinal cord and the prognosis for a full recovery is a bit uncertain at this time, but promising.
Alison spent 9 days in the ICU and a couple more days in IMC (intermediate care center) where it was determined that she was a good candidate for neurorehabilitation at Craig Hospital in Denver, which is a highly regarded hospital that specializes in spinal cord and brain injury rehab. On Tuesday, April 9, she had another ambulance ride, a plane trip on Angel Medflight, and yet another ambulance ride before arriving at Craig Hospital. In-house rehab for her injury usually takes 6-8 weeks.
We have good insurance that will hopefully pick up the tab for the bulk of the medical expenses. Although there have been and will continue to be additional costs not covered. We are starting this GoFundMe page so that Alison will have a little something at the end of her rehab/recovery to put her mind a little at ease and to help her keep on track with all of her future hopes, dreams, and college plans. She has a great job at Hullabaloo toy store in Bozeman and has been saving money, but this accident has ended that income stream for now.
