Hi everyone!
As most people know, my life has revolved around climbing for the past few years, and until recently, I've never had an unsafe experience. On April 30th, I was involved in a climbing accident that left me with a broken tibia and fibula.
I was admitted into the MCV hospital where I underwent surgery to have a rod put in to support my tibia. After 48 hours of care and too much pain medication, I was able to leave and am now staying with my mother. With the help of Richard, my mom, and Vivien (Richard's mother), my recovery is going very well, as I can now inch around on crutches!
Unfortunately, I have no medical insurance (because I am not yet eligible through work), and I also will not be able to go back to work for several weeks. While work is doing all they can to help me out, it simply won't be enough for Richard and I to pay rent and bills with (not to mention we might need to eat something these next few weeks!).
We also do not know how much the medical expenses are yet, but I imagine it will be several thouand dollars.
We have applied for financial assistance through the hospital, but we do not know how much they will cover.
With Richard only working part-time right now because of graduate school, and me not working, it will be extremely difficult for us to pay for this.
We are trying to do anything and everything we can to stay ahead of all these bills, but I'm afraid it will not be enough. Any support is greatly appreciated! (Even if it's not financial; all the kind words I've received already have been so healing!)
