Ali’s Lil Knees
Donation protected
They say a dog will change your life. What they don’t often say is “she’s an orthopedic nightmare and needs $20-25k worth of surgery,” at only 7 months old. Ali was tossed out of a car as a puppy, causing an unfortunate amount of orthopedic issues. Ali had an angular limb deformity (we fixed it!), and currently has severe elbow dysplasia in both elbows, and two knees out of place. While arthritis has already been diagnosed in every single leg, along with osteoporosis, we are hoping to prevent Ali’s knees from being the reason she becomes immobile at just 2 years old. The goal is to fix her knees, so she can have the possibility of a beautifully LONG and pain free life. Right now, she’s in pain at just 1 year old. Without surgery, she is losing cartilage in her knees that cannot be replaced or fixed. Surgery is really our only shot at giving her two good legs as elbow dysplasia is often untreatable.
Ali was dropped off at my door after I lazily applied to be a foster only two days prior. They called what was nearly a 90° angle a ‘flipper paw.’ As a 23 year old with the same name I felt it was not by chance; I needed to do everything I can to help this sweet girl. My hope, like any other dog mom, is to have Ali live for as long as possible with the best quality of life. I wish everyone could meet this perfect angel, but all we can do is hope that you get the chance, and continue to ask for help.
